Bruin Engineers Reunion Weekend 2017 Wrap Up
Friday, June 9 – Sunday, June 11
Dear Alumni and Friends,
WOW! What a joy it was this weekend to see so many Bruin Engineers from across the decades come together to celebrate their reunion – from our newest alumni from the class of 2016 to alumni from the 1950s. And, to be able to share all this with our loved ones of all ages made this a true Bruin Engineers Family experience!
Our panel sessions were filled with lively discussions (and even a visit from a robot named Darwin). Hearing from Dean Murthy during lunch as she shared her vision for the school’s expansion was inspiring. And seeing our current student groups in their work spaces as they shared the amazing projects they’ve participated in this year really brought home the specialness of the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science.
That Bruin spirit came through loud and proud Saturday night as cocktails and dinner turned into a night of dancing under a blue and gold tent. And somehow you all were able to save some energy for a rousing 8-Clap with Joe and Josephine Bruin during Sunday brunch!
Even more impressive, your involvement and support in honor of your reunion helped us surpass our fundraising goals. With your help, we raised $4,182,152 from nearly 800 alumni gifts. That is nothing short of amazing – and it all goes to support the school we hold so dear. Thank you!
Again, we are so glad that you were able to join us for the first annual Bruin Engineers Reunion Weekend. We’ve posted photos from each of the weekend’s events on the UCLA Engineering Flickr page. You can view them HERE.
That’s all for now. Remember to stay in touch, and Go Bruins!
