Audrey Pool O’Neal

Audrey-ONealDr. Audrey Pool O’Neal received the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2014.  She also received an MS in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, an MS in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute.  For more than fifteen years she worked as an engineer and manager at the Powertrain Division of General Motors Corporation, in automatic transmission design and manufacturing.

Dr. O’Neal currently serves as Director of Women in Engineering at UCLA, known as WE@UCLA, where she focuses on enabling the full participation, success, and advancement of women in engineering and computer science.  Prior to taking on this role, she served as Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs for the UCLA Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity, and was engaged in the development and implementation of the undergraduate research program, as well as, academic excellence and retention strategies for UCLA students, who are traditionally underrepresented in engineering and computer science.  Dr. O’Neal is also a Lecturer in the UCLA Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, and her research is in the area of multifunctional nanocomposite materials.
